Himesh Reshammiya credits Salman Khan for giving him a breakthrough with 'Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya': 'Otherwise, I would have been stuck in serials'

Actor-composer Himesh Reshammiya was last seen in ‘Badass Ravikumar‘, and in a recent appearance on choreographer Farah Khan’s vlog on her YouTube channel, Himesh spoke about the inspiration behind his film. He also shared some old memories about Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.
Himesh revealed that the character in ‘Badass Ravikumar’ draws heavily from his childhood love for Indian cinema. He highlighted his fondness for retro vibes, revealing that his 90s-inspired songs have always resonated well with audiences. He believes that people still cherish the charm of nostalgic elements, which influenced the creation of Badass Ravikumar. Emphasising the film’s light-hearted nature, he noted that the audience particularly enjoyed the “logic-optional” approach, making it a true stress-buster aimed at pure entertainment.
The conversation took a nostalgic turn when Sajid Khan prompted Himesh to recount his early days as a producer, leading to a fond memory involving Aamir Khan’s 1988 classic ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. He shared that he loves Aamir and his 1988 classic. Himesh recalled attending the trial of ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ in 1988. Despite widespread doubts about the film’s success, Himesh confidently predicted it would break records. When the film became a massive hit, his father finally placed his trust in him and gave him some money to produce a television serial.

He further revealed that there was once a plan to cast Aamir Khan in one of his father’s films, but when that didn’t materialise, Salman Khan became part of the picture. Although the planned film with Salman didn’t come to fruition, Himesh eventually got his big break when Salman recognised his musical talent and offered him a song in ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya‘. Sohail Khan also approved the challenging title track, marking a turning point in Himesh’s music career. “‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ was already a superhit song from Mughal-E-Azam. Somehow, that phrase was recreated, and things fell into place. I got that break; otherwise, I would have been stuck in serials. I was a producer first. I was so involved in serials that I could only pursue music after Salman Bhai gave me that opportunity,” he explained.

‘Badass Ravikumar’ managed to earn decent reviews from fans and critics alike after its release on February 7.
