TOISA 2024: 'Panchayat' actor Faisal Malik's witty take on sports fans leaves audience in splits: 'Our parents used to call us useless...'

At TOISA 2024, actor Faisal Malik brought humour to the event as he acknowledged the role of sports fans in shaping the culture around games. In his signature style, Faisal addressed the athletes in attendance, saying,
“To all the sports people sitting here, I want to tell you that even we are very important in your life. I feel if it was not for us, there would have been no cricket. Our parents used to call us useless. We are someone who doesn’t play any sport but we have advice on each one of them. Outside the ground you are playing, is a tea shop and there are people who don’t play the sports, sipping tea there, and we are those people.”

His lighthearted speech resonated with many, as he described how passionate fans often have strong opinions despite never stepping onto the field.

“We are someone who knows everything yet we don’t know anything. We are someone who had all the sports equipment and shoes but we never got there. We are someone who will come to you and tell you how to play. We have nothing better to do and without us, you cannot watch sports.”

Faisal’s playful take on sports enthusiasts left the audience in laughter, but he wrapped up with a heartfelt message, appreciating the athletes for their dedication.
“I thank all you sports people. Play well and encourage people like us also. Keep taking advice from people like us.”
His words were a reminder of the unique relationship between athletes and their fans, who may not play the sport but live and breathe it with equal passion.
