Ahmedabad plane crash: Tata announces Rs 1 crore compensation to kin of deceased; to cover medical costs of injured and rebuild hostel hit by aircraft

NEW DELHI: In the wake of the tragic Air India Flight 171 crash in Gujarat, the Tata Group has announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore each for the victims and their families. The crash, which has left the nation in mourning, has prompted an outpouring of grief and solidarity from across the country. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, expressed anguish over the incident, staying, “No words can adequately express the grief we feel at this moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and with those who have been injured,” as posted by Tata Group on X.The Tata Group has pledged Rs 1 crore to the families of each person who lost their life in the tragedy. Furthermore, the Tata Group has committed to covering the medical expenses of those injured in the crash. This includes ensuring that all necessary care and support are provided to aid in their recovery. The company has also announced plans to support the rebuilding of the B J Medical’s hostel, which was affected by the crash. “Tata Group will provide ₹1 crore to the families of each person who has lost their life in this tragedy. We will also cover the medical expenses of those injured and ensure that they receive all necessary care and support. Additionally, we will provide support in the building up of the B J Medical’s hostel. We remain steadfast in standing with the affected families and communities during this unimaginable time. ,” Chandrasekaran added. The Air India flight bound for London crashed in the Meghaninagar locality near Ahmedabad on Thursday shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The incident occurred around 1.39 pm. Flight AI171 to London Gatwick lost signal at an altitude of 625 feet less than a minute after departure, according to data from the flight-tracking platform Flightradar24. The aircraft impacted a residential area, resulting in a massive fire and causing panic among local residents. Thick black smoke was observed billowing from the crash site.
