An American-Lebanese man was found guilty by a jury Friday of attempting to kill novelist Salman Rushdie when storming a stage and repeatedly plunging a knife into the “Satanic Verses” author, a court official said.
Hadi Matar “was found guilty on both charges” including second-degree attempted murder and assault over the attack at the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York, a court spokesperson said in an emailed statement, adding that sentencing has been scheduled for April 23.
