
Bank holiday on Buddha Purnima: Banks will remain shut in multiple parts of India today, May 12, on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s calendar.This closure applies to cities and states including Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Dehradun, Imphal, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar.Banks also remained closed over the weekend on 10 and 11 May. Regular operations will resume from Tuesday, May 13 in these states.All public and private sector banks in these regions will have over-the-counter services, such as cash deposits, cheque clearances, and account-related transactions, shut for the day. However, customers can still access essential services through digital platforms.Internet banking, mobile apps, and ATMs will function as usual, allowing users to carry out fund transfers, bill payments, and cash withdrawals without disruption.
