Domestically, Chhaava has shattered records, earning Rs 219.75 crore in just seven days, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 to date. This feat also marks the second-largest hit of Vicky Kaushal’s career, following the success of “Uri: The Surgical Strike” which minted over Rs 244 crore back in 2018. Chhaava’s opening day collection stood at Rs 31 crore, setting the tone for a robust box office performance throughout the week. Notably, the film’s earnings received a significant boost on Wednesday, coinciding with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday, which propelled the total past the ₹200 crore mark within six days.
Chhaava portrays the valorous life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second Maratha warrior king, and has resonated deeply with audiences, particularly in Maharashtra. The film’s portrayal of historical events, combined with compelling performances, has garnered widespread acclaim. The ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Viineet Kumar Singh and Ashutosh Rana, has been lauded for their impactful performances, contributing to the film’s widespread appeal.

The film’s success is further amplified by its strong international performance, with North American audiences showing significant interest. The substantial overseas collections reflect the global appeal of Indian historical narratives and the star power of Vicky Kaushal. The combined domestic and international earnings position Chhaava as a formidable contender for one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
Post Chhaava, Vicky also has another major film lined up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The rumour mills are abuzz that the film is a modern adaptation of Raj Kapoor’s Sangam with elements of Hollywood film Pearl Harbour in it. Vicky also has Mahavatar with Amar Kaushik in the pipeline for 2026 release.
