NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli issued a clarification on Friday after social media erupted over his alleged “like” on a fan page post featuring actress Avneet Kaur.
Fans noticed Kohli’s verified Instagram handle in the “likes” section of the post, sparking a flurry of speculation online.
Screenshots went viral, with theories ranging from an accidental tap to a possible glitch.
While many brushed it off as harmless, some users went overboard—tagging Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and fueling baseless gossip.
Addressing the buzz, Kohli shared a statement via Instagram Stories:
“I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding,” he wrote.
Kohli is set to return to action on Saturday as RCB take on Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. CSK, already out of playoff contention, became the first team to be eliminated from IPL 2025.
