NCW summons app CEO, actor over vulgar web show content

NEW DELHI: National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Ullu App CEO Vibhu Agarwal and actor and host Ajaz Khan for alleged coercive and vulgar content involving women participants on the web series “House Arrest”. As per the NCW notice, the duo has been summoned to appear before the commission on May 9.
Meanwhile, amid raging controversy over its content, the reality show “House Arrest” has been pulled from the streaming platform. News agency PTI reported that a search for the show “House Arrest” on the Ullu app, known primarily for its adult content, yielded no results on Friday.
Mumbai police on Friday also registered an FIR against actor Ajaz Khan, producer Rajkumar Pandey and others for alleged obscene content in ‘House Arrest’, an official said.
NCW said that that it has taken suo moto cognisance of disturbing media reports about the show.
“A short clip from the show, dated April 29, has gone viral, showing the host, Ajaz Khan, coercing female participants into enacting private, intimate positions on camera – despite their visible discomfort and clear refusal. The contestants were reportedly further asked to undress and perform obscene acts on-screen,” the commission said.
