NEW DELHI: Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli once again found himself at the centre of online chatter, but this time, it wasn’t about his on-field heroics.
On Friday, the Indian cricket icon posted a cryptic clarification on Instagram, addressing what appeared to be an accidental social media interaction.
“I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction,” Kohli wrote. “There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made.”

The statement, though vague, has ignited a wave of speculation.
Many believe it refers to a mistakenly liked post, allegedly involving a popular Indian actress, which was swiftly noticed by fans and began trending across platforms.
Kohli’s deliberate choice of words and the emphasis on “no intent” have only fueled curiosity.
However, the off-field drama hasn’t distracted the former India captain from his primary focus, delivering for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025.
Kohli has been in imperious form this season, racking up 443 runs from 10 innings at an impressive average of 63.28 and a strike rate nearing 139. His consistent run includes six half-centuries and a best of 73*.
As RCB prepare to face arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at home on Saturday, Kohli remains a central figure in their playoff ambitions.
With Bengaluru sitting second on the points table with seven wins, Kohli’s leadership with the bat has been instrumental in their surge.

While social media continues to speculate over the true intent behind the now-viral post, Kohli seems intent on letting his cricket do the talking.
As always, he walks the tightrope between intense public scrutiny and high professional performance, a space he’s long made his own.
