You just need 2 skills to be successful as an entrepreneur, believes Shark Tank's Anupam Mittal-- Here's what they are
Shark Tank India’s Anupam Mittal

Popular Indian entrepreneur Anupam Mittal is well-known for founding Shaddi.com, and he is currently seen on Shark Tank India as an investor. Considering his huge popularity, people often look up to him and follow his advice to be successful entrepreneurs. Recently, when someone asked Anupam Mittal for his advice on the key skills one should have to be successful as an entrepreneur, Mittal answered it by posting a video about it on LinkedIn. Shattering the common belief that one should have a degree from an expensive college or work experience to be successful as an entrepreneur, Mittal shared that, in his opinion, people need only two important skills that work as “superpowers”.
Sharing his advice, Mittal said, “A question about the skills that one needs to develop to be successful. There are several skills which you can divide into two broader ones: one is the ability to sell, and the second is to have the ability to build.”
Elaborating it further, he said, “Let me explain what I’m trying to say: When you try to be an entrepreneur, you have to do a lot of selling, you’ll have to convince people to join you, you’ll have to raise capital and you’ll have to market your product. So, unless you develop the ability to convince people and buy into your vision, it will be very hard to do the above.”
He added, “The other is to have the ability to build, it means the ability to focus on one thing. Being misunderstood by people will ground you because people will call you crazy for coming up with new or different ideas. And have the perseverance to stay at it… These two skills will help you grow not just as an entrepreneur, but also in life.”
Mittal’s insight offers a refreshing and practical perspective on entrepreneurship. By emphasizing the power of just two fundamental skills — the ability to sell and the ability to build — he simplifies what many overcomplicate. His message is clear: you don’t need fancy degrees or years of corporate experience to succeed. What you truly need is the ability to communicate your vision effectively and the perseverance to bring that vision to life, even when others doubt you. These superpowers, as he calls them, are not just the foundation of entrepreneurial success — they are the pillars of personal growth and resilience in any path you choose.
