Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has once again made a scathing attack on the Indian government and the Indian army for the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. At least 26 persons — mostly tourists — were killed by terrorists on Tuesday at the Baisaran meadows in the popular destination in the Kashmir valley.
“The terrorists continued to kill people in Pahalgam for an hour, and not a single Indian soldier out of 8 lakhs showed up. But when they did, they blamed Pakistan,” Afridi told local media reporters in Pakistan.
Afridi also blasted India for killing its own people and then putting the blame on Pakistan.
“India carries out terrorism itself, kills its own people, and then puts the blame on Pakistan,” he said.
“No country or religion supports terrorism. We always support peace. Islam teaches us peace only, and Pakistan never supports such kinds of acts.
“We have always tried to improve our relations with India.
Who’s that IPL player?
“We received so many threats before travelling to India. During the 2016 T20 World Cup, I was the captain, and I had no clue whether we would go or not.
“Sports diplomacy is also good. They send their kabaddi team here, but they can’t send their cricket team. If you want to shut it down, then do it completely, or let sport.”
On Saturday, Afridi had also slammed the Indian media for their “senseless” coverage of the terror attack.
Hairat hoti hai ki hamle ke ek ghante ke baad hi unka media Bollywood ban gaya. Khuda ke liye har kuch ko Bollywood mat banao (It’s surprising that within an hour of the attack, their media turned into Bollywood. For God’s sake, don’t make everything Bollywood),” Afridi said on Samaa TV.
Main hairaan ho gaya, balki main enjoy kar raha tha jis tarah ki woh baatein kar rahe they (I was astonished, in fact, I was enjoying the way they were talking).”
