Pahalgam terror attack: US intel chief Tulsi Gabbard offers India 'support to hunt down those responsible'

The United States director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, extended her strong support to India after the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 dead and several others injured.
In a post on social media platform X, Gabbard condemned the “horrific Islamist terrorist attack” and affirmed solidarity with India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We stand in solidarity with India in the wake of the horrific Islamist terrorist attack, targeting and killing 26 Hindus in Pahalgam. My prayers and deepest sympathies are with those who lost a loved one, PM Narendra Modi, and with all the people of India. We are with you and support you as you hunt down those responsible for this heinous attack,” Gabbard wrote on Friday.
The attack, which took place on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, is one of the deadliest in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
Earlier, at a press briefing, US state department spokesperson Tammy Bruce declined to entertain questions from a Pakistani journalist about border tensions with India in the aftermath of the attack.
“I am not going to be remarking on it. I appreciate this, and perhaps, we will come back to you with another subject. I will say nothing more on that situation,” Bruce said, adding that senior US officials have already made their positions clear.
US President Donald Trump also expressed support for India and Prime Minister Modi on April 23, reaffirming America’s commitment to stand with India in its fight against terrorism.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, after meeting Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in Srinagar on Friday, called for decisive action. Sinha urged the Army to bring the perpetrators to justice and to intensify operations against the broader terror infrastructure operating in the region.
