NEW DELHI: Legendary West Indian cricketer Sir Vivian Richards has spoken out in strong support of Pakistan’s star batter, Babar Azam, amid his recent struggles.
In an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Richards reassured fans that Babar will soon regain his best form, despite the tough phase he’s currently facing.

“Babar Azam will soon regain his form. A king is one who rules over all. No matter how good a batter you are, everyone goes through a rough patch. This is not the first time he’s facing such a phase. Babar is a very good player,” Richards said.
“I am sure he will get back to form very soon. A king is one who rules over all. I believe when you watch players like Kohli and Babar, they appear to do justice to the game of cricket.”
Babar Azam, who has been struggling in T20 cricket lately, was dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad for the New Zealand tour after poor performances.
His form has not improved in the ongoing PSL 2025, where he has failed to score in his first two matches for Peshawar Zalmi, leaving his team at the bottom of the table.
Despite this, Richards, Quetta Gladiators mentor, is confident that Babar will bounce back, just as other great players like Virat Kohli have done in the past.

Huge prediction! KL Rahul would play in place of Rishabh Pant in 2026 T20 World Cup

While Babar’s recent performances have been disappointing, both Richards remains certain that his best is yet to come.
He believes in his skill and resilience, and that this rough patch is just a temporary setback.
