NEW DELHI: KL Rahul will walk onto familiar turf on Tuesday, but this time in new colours. The star Indian batter, now representing Delhi Capitals, returns to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow to face his former team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), in what promises to be a high-stakes IPL 2025 clash.

Rahul, who led LSG from their debut season in 2022 until 2024, will be playing against the franchise he once captained — and at the very venue where he was the face of the home crowd.

Delhi Capitals marked the moment by sharing a video on social media of Rahul entering the stadium, captioned: “Enter KL Rahul [fire emoji]”.

In fine form this season, Rahul has amassed 266 runs from six matches at an impressive average of 53.20 and a strike rate of 158.33. He’s struck two fifties and has emerged as a pillar in Delhi’s batting line-up. He missed the earlier clash between DC and LSG in Visakhapatnam, a match that Delhi narrowly won by one wicket.
Who’s that IPL player?
Rahul’s release ahead of the 2024 mega auction was a major talking point, especially after a solid personal season last year, where he scored 520 runs in 14 games. However, LSG failed to reach the playoffs, finishing seventh.

With both teams tied on 10 points, DC currently sit second, while LSG are fifth due to net run rate. A win in Lucknow could shake up the points table — and for Rahul, it’s a chance to make a statement at his old home.
