Delta's offer of $30k to each passenger of crash-landing flight creates row: 'Are they trying to hide pilots' identity?'
A Delta plane turned upside down as it landed at a snow-covered airport in Toronto.

Delta Airlines has offered $30,000 to each of the passengers who were on the plane that flipped in a Toronto airport though there was no fatality. The announcement of the payout has invited criticism as social media users claimed this inadequate payment is only to hide the identity of the pilots. There were 76 passengers on Flight 4819 which went upside down during landing with the passengers hanging like bats inside the plane. A payment of $30,000 to each could reach over $2.2 million combined.
But the airlines said that there will be “no strings attached” which means taking the payment from the airline won’t mean that the passengers won’t be able to sue Delta for the horrific incident. “Delta Care Team representatives are telling customers this gesture has no strings attached and does not affect rights,” a representative told the New York Post. The reason for the incident remains under investigation while 21 people were hospitalized in the aftermath as the plane went upside down and crashlanded in a thick layer of snow.

Who were the pilots of the plane?

There has been no official confirmation about the details of the pilots while several claims are doing the rounds on social media. One of the claims is that the pilots were all females and another viral claim is that the pilot in command was inexperienced; received her pilot license only one month ago. None of these details are officially confirmed while Delta CEO Ed Bastian said that the pilots on the plane were experienced. “There is one level of safety at Delta. All these pilots train for these conditions. This is what we train for. We train for this continuously,” Bastian said.
“Delta Air Lines is now offering a $30,000 payoff to victims of their plane crash, just two days after it occurred. Are they trying to pay people off to get ahead of the impending DEI pilot revelations?” one wrote.

Who is Kendal Swanson?

A viral post claimed that the pilot of the Delta flight was Kendal Swanson and she was recently licensed to co-pilot a small jet. The post said she was only the co-pilot and the captain may have erred in trusting her to land the plane. Some posts claimed that Kendal Swanson was a beauty pageant winner in Minnesota.
