If there’s one reel or video on social media that is bound to make you stop scrolling and actually see what’s happening is one where a couple is engaged in an age-gap or May-December relationship. Due to the age gap, appearances and camaraderie in general, these relationships catch a lot of eyeballs. But why are more and more younger women opting to date older men?
Well, as per the recent dating trends and hot goss on TikTok, it seems Gen Z women have warmed up to the idea of “age is just a number”
Quoting the finale of HBO’s popular series White Lotus, an 18-year-old Olivia told the New York Post how “I totally get why Chelsea was with Rick and chose him over Saxon. Rick was concerned with bigger things, and Chelsea believed they were soulmates. The age gap didn’t matter to her, and I totally get that!”

Kate, 18, added her own opinion saying, “Saxon was just so basic… Rick might have been moody and a bit murder-y, but I bet he doesn’t listen to Joe Rogan — if he [Rick] was an actual person.”
Liza, 19, who is dating a person in his late twenties shared how people her age were always talking about Andrew Tate, “I’d go on the odd date with someone my age and more often than not it would end up in a straight-up argument when he started saying Andrew Tate makes good points.”
This is opposed to her boyfriend who is “super chill, a feminist.”
Joe Rogan and Andrew Tate are American podcasters known for their controversial views on current events that are not supported by many. Thus, it seems a likeness towards such media personalities is a huge turn-off for Gen Z women who are becoming more and more vocal about their yeses and nos.
Gen Z women heading for the higher age group

Gen Z women are more outspoken and progressive when it comes to dating. With more Gen Z men choosing conservatism, they are unable to find like-minded men and thus are heading for the higher age group of men, who are not a part of the current manosphere.
According to the dating app Bumble, 63% of users reported they are comfortable dating outside their age group.

Many on X noted how mentioning Andrew Tate on the first date already makes them a complete no, writing, “No man who has any experience with women is bringing up Andrew Tate on a first date LOL”
Others added that age-gap relationships are nothing new and that people have been dating older partners for years. “Women have preferred older men since the beginning of time. Social media has made it seem like it’s weird to have age-gap relationships, but this isn’t anything new.”
