'We almost had them': Zaheer Khan rallies LSG after narrow defeat to CSK
Despite a narrow defeat against Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants’ assistant coach Lance Klusener lauded Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan for their performances. Mentor Zaheer Khan delivered an inspiring speech, emphasising the team’s resilience and ability to compete in any situation.

After a narrow five-wicket loss to the Chennai Super Kings, the Lucknow Super Giants shared a behind-the-scenes video on their social media handle, capturing the team’s post-match reflections.
In the video, assistant coach Lance Klusener praised standout performances by captain Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram, Ravi Bishnoi, and Avesh Khan, acknowledging their efforts in a tightly contested match.
Following the appreciation, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan delivered an inspiring pep talk to lift the team’s spirits. Emphasizing belief and resilience, he said:
“Just want to mention that these sorts of games go a long way in terms of having that belief — that we can make a match out of any situation. Today was a classic example of that. As a team, we stood up, and that’s what matters.”
Khan reflected on how close the game was:
“Throughout the game, there were situations and occasions where it could have gone either way — it was a very, very fine margin. We almost had them.”
With this defeat, LSG are still at the 4th place on the points table, with 4 wins and 3 losses from 7 matches. They will look to bounce back when they face the Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, April 19, in Jaipur.
