NEW DELHI: Despite a rare failure with the bat during Delhi Capitals’ 12-run loss to Mumbai Indians, KL Rahul won hearts with a touching post-match gesture that quickly went viral.
The star DC batter, who managed just 15 runs in the high-scoring clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, made time for fans in wheelchairs after the match.

In a video shared by Delhi Capitals titled “This is KL Rahul”, the cricketer is seen posing for photos, waving, high-fiving supporters, and signing autographs — a moment that struck a deep emotional chord with fans.

It was DC’s first home game of the 2025 IPL season, and the defeat also ended their four-match winning streak. Rahul entered the match in red-hot form, fresh off an unbeaten 93 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and a composed 77 against Chennai Super Kings. But while the bat didn’t do the talking on Sunday, his actions off the field spoke volumes.

The Capitals fell short chasing 206, with the chase ending in dramatic fashion — three run-outs in three balls bowled by Jasprit Bumrah in the penultimate over.
Yet, even in defeat, Rahul’s kindness became the highlight — a reminder of the human side of sport.
