KKR humiliate CSK at Chepauk, register their second-biggest IPL win

Kolkata Knight Riders handed Chennai Super Kings a thumping eight-wicket loss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, hunting down a modest 104-run target in just 10.1 overs (61 balls) — marking their second-biggest win in IPL history in terms of balls remaining.
Invited to bat first, CSK endured a horror show with the bat on their home turf, crawling to 103/9 in 20 overs. It was their lowest-ever total at Chepauk and the third-lowest in their IPL journey. This also stands as the lowest total by any team in the 2025 edition so far.
CSK have lost five matches in a row for the first time in IPL history. To make matters worse, Friday’s loss to KKR was also their third consecutive defeat at Chepauk — marking the first time they’ve suffered three back-to-back home losses in the league.
KKR’s bowlers delivered a masterclass in control and precision. Veteran Sunil Narine spun a web with figures of 3/13, while pacer Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets each. CSK’s batters never found rhythm, managing just nine boundaries — a telling stat of their struggles on a slow, gripping surface.
Shivam Dube was the only silver lining for CSK, scoring an unbeaten 31 off 29 balls. Vijay Shankar chipped in with 29, but no other batter crossed the double-digit mark, exposing the brittle middle order.

In reply, KKR’s openers came out with intent and aggression, putting the game to bed in quick time. They wrapped up the chase with 59 balls to spare, underlining their dominance.
KKR’s only bigger win came in 2021 when they chased 93 against RCB in just 10 overs, with 60 balls remaining.
