'Chhaava' Box Office Collection Day 6: Vicky Kaushal's historical drama gets a big boost on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti; all set to cross Rs 200 crore mark

Vicky Kaushal’s latest film, Chhaava, is on the brink of crossing the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office within its first week. The historical drama, which has been making waves since its release, recorded an impressive Rs 32 crore collection on Wednesday, coinciding with the partial Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.
The film’s sixth-day earnings surpassed its opening-day collection of Rs 31 crore. It witnessed strong weekend figures, with collections of Rs 37 crore on Saturday and Rs 48.5 crore on Sunday. However, Monday saw a dip to Rs 24 crore, followed by minimal growth on Tuesday, thus bringing its total box office tally to an estimated Rs 197.75 crore net across all languages in India.

With just one day remaining before the completion of its first week, the film is set to become the first release of 2025 to surpass the Rs 200 crore benchmark. Additionally, it is inching closer to becoming the highest-grossing film of Kaushal’s career. His 2019 film, Uri: The Surgical Strike, remains his top-earning project, with a total collection of Rs 244.14 crore.

Kaushal portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj has earned widespread acclaim. The actor also marked the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with a visit to the historic Raigad Fort.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a cinematic adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhava. The film features an ensemble cast, including Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, Divya Dutta as Soyarabai, and Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, Aurangzeb’s daughter.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attended the special screening of the period drama on Wednesday. Speaking to the media at the event, he praised the film and its team for bringing the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the audience.

“Today is the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj… I want to thank the film’s team and Vicky Kaushal for bringing the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to everyone,” Shinde said.
When asked about the demand to make Chhaava tax-free, Shinde responded, “The government will take the necessary steps.”
