As children, birthdays were such a big thing for us – donning a crisp new dress, calling all your friends over, birthday caps, snacks, and of course cakes and gifts! The joy was not so much about turning a year older, but the celebration aspect of it, and of course, the fact that you were being treated special and were not being told off by your parents!
