Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their third away victory of IPL 2025, defeating Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a high-scoring match at Wankhede Stadium on Monday. However, RCB captain Rajat Patidar, who bagged the Player of the Match award, was slapped with a fine for slow over-rate. Patidar scored an impressive 64 runs off 32 balls as RCB batted first.
The BCCI took disciplinary action against Patidar for the team’s slow over-rate during the game.

“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined INR 12 lakhs,” stated the IPL media release.
RCB achieved their first victory at Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians in a decade. The match remained tense until the final over, with Mumbai Indians needing 19 runs from the last six balls.
Krunal Pandya proved decisive in the final over, dismissing Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar in the first two deliveries. He then removed Naman Dhir in the penultimate ball, finishing with figures of 4-45 and handing his brother Hardik’s team their fourth loss in five matches.

Patidar acknowledged Krunal’s crucial contribution to the victory.
“It wasn’t easy and the way that he bowled was amazing,” Patidar said. “The way he showed courage was fantastic. It was pretty clear that we had to take the game as deep as we can, and then we could use one over of KP at the end.”
The victory marked RCB’s third win of the season, all achieved in away games. Their only defeat came at their home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium, against Gujarat Titans last week.
