Sooraj Barjatya explains why old, re-released movies are working: 'People are fed up...'

Sooraj Barjatya, the man behind popular films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’, and ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, recently spoke about old movies being re-released.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Barjatya discussed the popularity of re-runs of love stories, stating that people today are drawn to simplicity in films. He noted that while modern movies often become overly complicated with many layers, audiences are missing the value of straightforward storytelling. Barjatya emphasised that this desire for simplicity is a significant reason why classic love stories resonate so well with viewers today.
Sooraj also mentioned that his new OTT show, ‘Bada Naam Karenge’, shares the same core value: simplicity. He believes the show’s greatest strength lies in its straightforward and uncomplicated narrative.
Sooraj Barjatya was born into a Marwari Jain family and attended St. Mary’s School in Mumbai and The Scindia School in Gwalior. Encouraged by his grandfather, he directed his first film, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, for Rajshri at the age of 24. He began his career as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt. Sooraj is married to Vineeta Barjatya, and they have three children.
