Riyan Parag takes selfie with ground staff, then tosses phone away after RR beat CSK - WATCH

NEW DELHI: After two consecutive defeats, Rajasthan Royals finally got their IPL 2025 campaign back on track with a hard-fought six-run victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday. Stand-in skipper Riyan Parag, who led the team in the absence of the injured Sanju Samson, breathed a sigh of relief as RR secured their first win of the season.
However, Riyan found himself at the center of controversy following his post-match gesture in Guwahati.

After the match, ground staff members eagerly approached him for a selfie with their local hero. Riyan stopped, acknowledged their request, and took a photo with them. But what followed left many stunned.
After clicking the selfie, he threw the mobile phone back to one of the staff members instead of handing it over.
The act did not sit well with fans on social media, who criticized Riyan for his rudeness, calling the gesture disrespectful and unnecessary.
Riyan has also been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during Rajasthan Royals’ six-run victory over Chennai Super Kings.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Parag was fined Rs 12 lakh,” IPL stated in an official release.
After losing their season opener to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals will next take on Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 5.
