Miyazaki mango: The most expensive mango in the world that costs Rs 3 lakh per kilogram.

One of the world’s most costly fruits, Miyazaki mango can be priced as high as Rs 3 lakh per kilogram. This fruit has also earned the title of “Egg of the Sun”, because of its intense ruby red color. This fruit comes from Miyazaki Prefecture in Japan, where it is developed with hard work using selective breeding in the mid-20th century to fit the nation’s peculiar climate.
It weighs between 350-550 grams and is reputed for its unique sweetness and good sugar content. The smooth texture has no fibers, while its aromatic perfume enhances its royal appeal. With its superior taste and vivid appearance, the Miyazaki mango is now the epitome of quality and uniqueness in the fruit world.

Bihar farmer successfully grows Miyazaki mangoes in their first year

Miyazaki mango cultivation is a labor-intensive and delicate process. The farmers personally hand-pollinate the trees to provide the best fruit yield and quality. For protection from insects and damage, every mango is individually wrapped. Careful monitoring is done for every growth stage, from planting to maturation, to yield only top-quality mangoes. With its scarcity and increasing demand, the Miyazaki mango has recently reached India. In 2021, two saplings were brought by Surendra Singh, a farmer from Dhakaniya Village in Bihar, from Japan. The trees, though new, produced 21 mangoes in their first year, a promising beginning to growing this luxury fruit in India.
