In Bridgerton season 4, Luke Thompson’s character Benedict’s life takes a turn when he meets the mysterious Lady in Silver, Sophie Beckett, played by Yerin Ha.
The fourth season of Bridgerton has finally cast its leading lady and Yerin Ha will step into the role of Sophie Beckett, Benedict’s love interest. While Variety confirmed this exciting news, the portal didn’t delve into the details. In the new season, Benedict, played by Luke Thompson, starts off enjoying his freedom. However, his life takes a turn when he meets the mysterious Lady in Silver at Violet Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, but her true identity remains a secret at first. For fans of the books, this Lady in Silver is none other than Sophie. Before appearing in Netflix’ one of the biggest shows, Yerin appeared in Halo and is set to appear in the upcoming Dune: Prophecy series.
Sources reveal that Benedict and Sophie’s romance in Season 4 will follow Julia Quinn’s third novel, An Offer From a Gentleman. In the book, Sophie is featured as the secret daughter of an earl and one of his maids. Although she was raised in her father’s home, he never openly recognised her as his child.
As per the official synopsis, “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down, until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
Back in 2019, Yerin Ha believed that there’s a lack of Asian representation in the entertainment industry. Despite these hurdles, she remained optimistic that things will change. In a conversation with Vogue, she said, “Hopefully there’s a time where we can actually see [people of multiple backgrounds] playing the girlfriend, the romantic lead, but in my opinion, audiences are still not used to seeing that amount of diversity on screen or stage.”
Although there is no official release date for Season 4, showrunner Jess Brownell has hinted that production will start soon. Speaking with the LA Times, she mentioned that the team is considering a fall season, partly due to the timing of the shoot. This will bring a rich, warm colour palette to the show, replacing some of the pastels from previous seasons.
Other than Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, Bridgerton Season 4 will also star Phoebe Dynevor, Rege-Jean Page, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Hannah Dodd, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Golda Roshuvel, Florence Hunt, Will Tilston, Daniel Francis, Martins Imhangbe, Harriet Cains, Polly Walker and Bessie Carter. New cast members are yet to be announced.
