Supreme Court puts stay on arrest, grants interim protection to Ranveer Allahbadia but bars him from doing shows

Ranveer Allahbadia has been in the news for his comments on Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent‘. Ranveer faced a lot of backlash for his comment to a contestant regarding ‘sex with parents’. Several FIRs were filed against Ranveer, Apoorva Makhija, Samay Raina for the show. While Ranveer issued an apology, he was receiving death threats. Now according to the latest update, the Supreme Court has granted an interim protection to Ranveer.
A hearing took place today and the court has given him protection, thus, directing him to cooperate with the investigation in multiple FIRs. The court has now stayed his arrest with regards to the FIRs, however, he is now allowed to do any shows at the moment.
Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh passed the order, which said, “The Court has granted interim protection to the YouTuber while directing him to cooperate with the investigation in multiple FIRs. However, he has been restrained from hosting any new shows for now.”
According to ANI, “Supreme Court also issued notices on his plea seeking clubbing of FIRs and put an interim stay on arrest on FIRs registered in Maharashtra, Assam and Jaipur subject to his joining investigation. Supreme Court also directed Allahbadia and his associates to be off from show business for some time.”
Thus, he has been also given liberty to approach local police of Maharashtra and Assam for the protection of his life, amidst the death threats which he is getting.
