Carlos Alcaraz crushes Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach final at Paris Olympics | Paris Olympics 2024 News – Times of India

TOI Sports Desk

NEW DELHI: Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Olympic singles final on Friday with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime at Roland Garros.
The 21-year-old second seed, who recently won the French Open and Wimbledon titles, dominated the match on Court Philippe Chatrier, securing his place in the final in just over an hour.
Alcaraz will compete for the gold medal on Sunday against either top seed Novak Djokovic or Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who play their semi-final later on Friday.
Auger-Aliassime faltered early, double-faulting to give Alcaraz an initial service break. From that point, Alcaraz controlled the match.
Despite the loss, Auger-Aliassime still has a chance to earn a medal. He will compete in the bronze medal match in the mixed doubles with partner Gabriela Dabrowski.
