When Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and others brought the ULTIMATE Holi vibe with THIS Amitabh Bachchan song

The celebration of joy, colours, music, food and more is here! The beautiful festival of Holi is here! On this Friday, the entire nation will come together to get immersed in colours of gulal and bliss, and ahead of the same, we have a perfect throwback to kick start the festivity. While digging through the internet archives, we came across a 2023 video shared by cricketer Shubman Gill, where he, along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and the entire team India celebrated Holi on a bus ahead of their fourth Test against Australia. The team was seen dancing and cheering in the spirit of the festival, while Amitabh Bachchan’s ultimate, all-time classic Holi song was played in the background.
Any guesses which song are we talking about? Well, we gave you hints, it features Amitabh Bachchan and a Holi playlist must have! It is ‘Rang Barse Bhige Chunar Wali’ from Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha starrer movie ‘Silsila.’ This song gets a Holi party started in no time, and the proof of the same can be seen in Shubman Gill’s video. It showed Team India’s faces shining bright while being covered in colours. The video starts with capturing Virat Kohli in his true element, grooving to ‘Baby Calm Down’ and then in the background the Bollywood song plays and Shubman Gill says, “piche rang barse baj rha hai.” Soon ‘Rang Barse’ takes over the entire bus and the team.

Released in 1981, ‘Silsila’ showed a love triangle of complicated relationships leading. This romantic drama, even after decades, is counted among the top cinematic gems. And the song ‘Rang Barse Bhige Chunar Wali,’ has a different fan base all together. Over the years, several peppy party numbers, special Holi songs have been released but nothing could even come close to ‘Rang Barse.’ We don’t know about the magic behind the same; is it the lyrics by Amitabh Bachchan’s father late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, or the vocals by Big B himself or the melody? All we know is that it is the song that gets everyone grooving in no time.
