Dino Morea reveals he initiated breakup with Bipasha Basu during Raaz: ‘It was very tough to see her upset’

Raaz remains a cult classic, celebrated for its haunting soundtrack and the sizzling on-screen chemistry between Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu. However, behind the scenes, things were far from perfect. In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Dino opened up about dealing with a breakup with Bipasha while filming, revealing how emotionally challenging it was to work alongside her during that period.
Recalling those days, Dino admitted, “Jab Raaz ke dauran, we were breaking up, Bipasha and me, and to be honest, it was me who was breaking up with Bipasha because we had some issues. So she found it very tough, and I was seeing her every day on the set. She was upset. It was very, very tough at that point for me to see someone I care about so much.”
Despite attempts to work things out, the couple had already reached a point of no return. “Humne already alag alag raasta chun liya tha. Humne koshish bhi ki to fix it par wo fix nahi ho ra tha. And I moved on,” Dino shared, acknowledging that their paths had diverged, and despite their efforts, reconciliation wasn’t possible.
The actor further reflected on the pain of separation while still working together. “It was a tough moment because jinke saath aap ne kuch saalo samay bitaya aab aap alag ho rahe ho. And uss dauran hum saath mein kaam bhi kar rahe,” he said, adding that it was even more difficult to process emotions while seeing each other every day on set.

However, Dino firmly believes that time heals all wounds. “We were both upset, but we had to go separate ways. We had to. It was very tough, but nothing can heal anything more than time. Time heals everything. Time heals everything; you just had to let it pass.”
Speaking about overcoming heartbreak, he shared, “Uss dauran bahut hi mushkil hai but ispe hamesha vishwas rakho ki samay ke saath sab thik ho jata hai.” He emphasized that while the pain felt unbearable in the moment, trusting that time will make things better is essential.

Over the years, the bitterness faded, making way for a strong friendship between the two. “We became the best of friends after that. That moment is very tough; it’s like anger, emotions, rage, but time will make you understand that it was a moment. I really enjoy that person, and she enjoys me, so let’s be friends at least,” Dino concluded.
For those unaware, Dino and Bipasha first met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend during their modeling days. Their romance blossomed, and they were together from 1996 to 2001 before eventually parting ways.
