Ameesha Patel on Humraaz sequel with Bobby Deol, calls his Animal performance a ‘shocker’: ‘I loved Ranbir Kapoor, but...’

Bobby Deol, who recently impressed audiences with his performance in Animal, has now earned a special title from his Humraaz co-star Ameesha Patel. In an interview with India Today, Ameesha referred to Bobby as the “OG Stallion.”
Having shared screen space in the 2002 thriller Humraaz, Ameesha and Bobby developed an enduring camaraderie. While reflecting on their bond, Ameesha lauded Bobby’s transformation and his ability to captivate audiences.
“Bobby is my absolute darling. The Deols are, anyway, very close to my heart. Bobby and Sunny are as different as chalk and cheese. One’s shy, one’s outgoing. One’s always blushing, and one’s vibing with everyone on the set. One barely talks! But I get along with both really well,” she shared.
Ameesha, who recently watched Animal, was particularly taken aback by Bobby’s impact in the film. “Loved, loved him. I loved Ranbir also, but for me, it was a shocker—those 15-20 minutes that Bobby was on screen. I didn’t know, during that climax, who I was vouching for and rooting for. I was like, I don’t want anything to happen to either of them because I love both of them so much,” she said.

Ameesha Patel reveals people used to call her ‘too educated’ for pursuing acting; recalls turning down films to do ‘challenging roles’

She further highlighted how Bobby’s now-iconic scene with a glass on his head has become a pop culture moment. “And Bobby—with that glass on his head—made it so cool that everywhere you go, especially when people are a few drinks down, they’re putting the glass on their head and doing the number. It doesn’t even have to be a guy—it can be a girl, too. I think that’s so cute that he brought that out from his childhood experience and brought it onto the screen. And he did it so convincingly. For an actor who was gunga (mute) in the film to make such an impact—like, wow! That’s what I’m saying—he’s a terrific actor. I’m looking forward to seeing amazing work from him, too.”

On the possibility of reuniting with Bobby for a project, Ameesha expressed enthusiasm. “Yes, of course. You know, Humraaz has potential for a sequel; it was left open-ended. It is one of the most popular films, and the songs were super hits. So yeah, if that happens, it will be great. Working with Bobby is always fun.”
