Who is Barbara Broccoli? The filmmaker that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos wants to get rid of

If you are seeking a thriller that is packed with espionage and classic cinematic elegance, your search will end with the ‘James Bond’ franchise. For over six decades, 007 has been casting a spell over the audience. And the makers of the franchise, the Broccoli family, deserve the credit for the same. Even after the demise of Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, his daughter Barbara Broccoli, alongside her half-brother Michael G. Wilson, made sure the adventure of Bond didn’t stop. They even took the franchise to a new level.
However, according to the latest reports, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who has acquired James Bond, now doesn’t Barbara Broccoli as a part of the franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, if anything, he wants to get rid of her at any cost. Allegedly, Barbara called the Amazon executives ‘idiots,’ and this didn’t settle down well with the CEO Jeff Bezos.
While this drama completely unfolds, let’s dive deeper into Barbara Broccoli’s profile.

Who is Barbara Broccoli?

Born in 1960, Barbara Broccoli attended the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Her and 007’s introduction happened at an early age. Her father, Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, instilled in her a passion for storytelling, which gradually bloomed into an unwavering commitment to the franchise.
“I cannot even remember a time before being conscious of James Bond.” Broccoli once told The Guardian. She was highly impressed by her father’s work, his legacy left an impact on her, and thus, when she entered the showbiz, she maintained the same stature.
Speaking of her personal life, she married twice. Film director and producer Michael G. Wilson was her first husband, and she tied the knot with him in 1985. Later, she was married to journalist and TV producer Andrew Finkel in 1990. She has two children from her second marriage – a daughter, Tatiana Finkel, and a son, Nicholas Finkel.
Perhaps inspired by the Broccoli legacy, Tatiana chose to follow a path in the arts, specifically in theater production. On the other hand, Nicholas has made his mark in the tech industry, concentrating on cutting-edge media platforms.
Broccoli started her journey with Bond in various behind-the-scenes roles before becoming a producer. She took on this position alongside her brother in 1995 after their father retired from Eon Productions.
