'AI driving force behind business transformation'

NEW DELHI: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept but is a driving force behind business transformation, industry leaders have said.
During a panel discussion at the Times Group’s ET NOW Global Business Summit (GBS) 2025, Subramanyam Yadavalli, CEO – International, Apollo Hospitals, highlighted three major AI-driven advancements transforming healthcare: predictive analytics, real-time monitoring, and early disease detection. “Predictive analytics enables early risk assessment, while real-time monitoring in ICUs provides instant alerts for ventilator settings, oxygen levels, and even wound infections up to six hours in advance. Crucially, AI predicts sepsis-the leading cause of ICU deaths- six to eight hours before onset, allowing critical interventions,” he said, adding that AI is revolutionising early detection of Parkinson’s, breast cancer, and cardiovascular conditions.
Asserting that AI is transforming every aspect of our lives, Nitin Shenoy, senior V-P at Biocon, said, “From tools like Copilot boosting productivity to systems like the ‘Golden Tunnel’ revolutionising manufacturing, AI is everywhere. In pharma, precision is critical-even a single failed batch can impact patients. AI ensures flawless production with tight tolerance. Clean, unbiased data is the backbone, enabling predictive and prescriptive insights.”
When it comes to retail, Sandeep Varaganti, CEO, Reliance Retail-Jiomart, said, “AI’s real game-changer is hyper-personalisation-predicting customer needs and surfacing them at the right moment.” He also stressed its role in trust and risk detection. “The next three to five years will be transformative, with AI critical in meeting evolving customer expectations, like 10-minute deliveries,” he added.
