NEW DELHI: Emotions ran high for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as he led India to a historic ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in front of a packed, electrifying crowd at the Dubai International Stadium. India secured the title with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final, marking their second ICC trophy in just nine months.
Their previous triumph came in June 2024 when they defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados.
Back in Barbados, Rohit had celebrated by grabbing the Indian flag, carrying it onto the field, and planting it at the centre of the pitch.
In Dubai, he recreated the iconic moment with a unique twist.

Rohit also put an end to speculations about his career following India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph, asserting that he has no plans to quit the ODI format anytime soon.
Since the Australia tour, questions had been swirling about Rohit’s future in the team and his role as captain. However, his match-winning knock of 76 in the final against New Zealand on Sunday has silenced doubts, giving him a fresh lease on his career.
