On Tuesday, two buses transporting young students from Shriji Inter College, Khoh in Chitrakoot district were seized due to expired vehicle fitness certificates.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has once again demonstrated zero tolerance towards negligence in government duties, as evident from the recent suspension of an official in Chitrakoot district. The Divisional Inspector (Provisional) of the district has been promptly suspended, and disciplinary measures have been initiated against the Assistant Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement) with immediate effect. The action came in response to an incident where school children faced hardship due to delayed issuance of fitness certificates for school buses.

On Tuesday, July 23, two buses transporting young students from Shriji Inter College, Khoh in Chitrakoot district were seized by Assistant Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Chitrakoot due to expired vehicle fitness certificates. The buses, along with the children, were taken to a police facility 10 kilometers away. The buses, along with the children, were taken to a police facility 10 kilometers away at 11 am, where they remained for two hours until their release at 1 pm.

Reports indicate that Divisional Inspector (Provisional) Gulab Chandra of Chitrakoot district had been tasked with inspecting school bus fitness at the respective schools but failed to comply, leading to the inability to issue valid fitness certificates for the vehicles. Consequently, the buses were impounded, forcing the children to endure exposure to the sun during the ordeal.

Upon learning of the incident, CM Yogi Adityanath swiftly took action, suspending Divisional Inspector (Provisional) Gulab Chandra with immediate effect. Additionally, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Assistant Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Vivek Kumar Shukla, pending further investigation.

CM Yogi Adityanath directed all state transport officials to uphold standards of accountability and prevent such lapses in the future. The Uttar Pradesh government’s proactive stance reflects its commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of all citizens, especially the younger population relying on public transport services.
