India clinched another global cricket title with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.
This marked India’s 23rd win in 24 matches across the last three men’s ICC events since 2023, with their only defeat coming against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Last year, India also triumphed in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa.
India last won the Champions Trophy title in 2013 and were runners-up to Pakistan in 2017. They shared the trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002 after a rain-affected final that spanned two days.

From the total prize pool of $6.9 million (~Rs 60 crore), India will take home $2.24 million (~ Rs 19.53 crore) for being the victors.
For going through unbeaten in the group stage, picking up wins against Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand, India notched a further $102,000 (~ Rs 88.96 lakh) – $34,000 per win.
Further, all teams were guaranteed a prize fund of $125,000 (~ Rs 1.09 crore) for participating in the competition.
On the whole, India earned $2.467 million (~ Rs 21.52 crore) in prize money for winning the Champions Trophy in Dubai.

In the Champions Trophy final, Rohit Sharma led India’s chase with a solid 76 runs off 83 balls, while KL Rahul contributed an unbeaten 34, helping India reach 254-6 in 49 overs to secure their third title.
Earlier, New Zealand, having won the toss and opted to bat first, set a target of 251-7 in their 50 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell on a slow, two-paced pitch in Dubai.
Sharma gave India a strong start, hitting seven fours and three sixes, while Hardik Pandya added a quick 18 runs off 18 balls, forming a vital 38-run partnership with Rahul for the sixth wicket.
