Watch: Virat Kohli touches Mohammad Shami's mother's feet after Champions Trophy victory

NEW DELHI: India’s four-wicket victory in the final of Champions Trophy against New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday triggered widespread celebrations.
Rohit Sharma led the chase with 76 runs off 83 balls and KL Rahul’s unbeaten 34 helped India cross the finish line on 254/6 in 49 overs to win the Champions Trophy for the third time.

India went through the entire tournament unbeaten after wins against Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in the group phase, and then Australia in the semifinal.

As the players celebrated the triumph, the families of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were also seen joining the celebrations on the field.
A video that quickly went viral on social media was of veteran India pacer Mohammad Shami introducing his mother to Virat.
Humble that he is, Virat bowed and touched Shami’s mother’s feet for her blessings and then posed for some photographs with the pacer’s family too.
Virat later said, “It’s been amazing, we wanted to bounce back after a tough Australia tour. Lovely playing with a bunch of amazing youngsters. They’re stepping up and taking India in the right direction.”
“When you leave, you want to leave in a better position. So many impactful knocks (Shubman) Gill, Shreyas (Iyer), Rahul have played. The team is in good hands,” he added.
India added to their trophies in 2002 and 2013 to go past Australia, who have two titles.
