Who is the man charged in the Salem Tesla dealership attack and vandalism case?

Salem Man Adam Matthew Lansky

A Salem man has been charged in connection with two separate vandalism incidents at a Tesla dealership, including an alleged Molotov cocktail attack and a shooting, federal prosecutors said.
Adam Matthew Lansky, 41, was arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday, where he was charged with illegally possessing an unregistered destructive device. A judge ordered him to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oregon, the Tesla dealership at 2755 Mission St. SE was first targeted on January 20, 2025, when Salem Police responded to reports of a person throwing Molotov cocktails at the business. Nearly a month later, on February 19, officers were again called to the scene after someone shot out windows at the dealership.
Surveillance footage linked Lansky to both incidents, investigators said. The footage allegedly showed him hurling Molotov cocktails at the dealership’s building and several vehicles, igniting flames. Additionally, dashcam footage from a patrol car captured a vehicle parked near the dealership on the night of the shooting, which authorities later determined was registered to Lansky.
The case is being investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Salem Police Department.
