Legendary actress and Bharatanatyam icon Vyjayanthimala is in good health, putting to rest false rumors about her passing. The misinformation spread rapidly, prompting her son, Suchindra Bali, to issue a clarification.
In the snap obtained by ETimes, Suchindra Bali says, “Dr. Vyjayanthimala Bali is in good health, and any news that says otherwise is false. Before sharing, please validate the news source.”
Vyjayanthimala is healthy and doing well. Meanwhile, on January this year, Vyjayanthimala captivated audiences with a mesmerizing Bharatanatyam performance in Chennai. At 91, she continues to enchant fans with her timeless grace and artistry.
The performance took place at Kala Pradarshini, where Vyjayanthimala showcased her impeccable expressions and stage presence while performing to the Carnatic composition Daasiganunta in raga Abheri, set to the Adi tala. The event also featured musician Girijashankar Sundaresan, who provided vocals for the recital.

Vyjayanthimala, one of Indian cinema’s most revered actresses, has left an indelible mark with performances in classics like Devdas (1955), Madhumati (1958), Jewel Thief (1967), and Sangam (1964). After retiring from films in 1970 post Ganwaar, she dedicated herself to Bharatanatyam, becoming a celebrated exponent of the art form. Her contributions to Indian classical dance earned her the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1982. In 2024, she was honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan for her remarkable legacy in arts and cinema.
