'Rekhachithram' OTT release: Asif Ali starrer now streaming online on THIS platform

The gripping Malayalam crime thriller ‘Rekhachithram’, directed by Jofin T. Chacko, is all set to make its digital debut. The film has been praised for its mystery. Starring Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, and features cameos by Mammootty, Manoj K. Jayan, Indrans, and Jagadish.
The movie is streaming online on Sony LIV today onwards.
The story follows SHO Vivek Gopinath, played by Asif Ali, who returns to duty in the remote hills of Malakkappara after a suspension due to a gambling scandal. Vivek is tasked with solving a shocking suicide case involving Rajendran, who live-streamed a confession before his death. The confession hints at a long-buried crime from 1985, involving powerful figures and a missing actress named Rekha.
As Vivek delves deeper into the case, he uncovers hidden clues that is a skull, an anklet, and whispers about Rekha’s disappearance. Each lead takes him closer to a sinister truth, but witnesses mysteriously disappear, and enemies lurk in the shadows. The investigation becomes a race against time to solve the mystery before the past is buried forever.
The film draws inspiration from real events during the filming of Bharathan’s 1985 movie ‘Kathodu Kathoram’. A junior artist died under suspicious conditions, and the case was closed as a dead end. Writer Ramu Sunil wrote a story around this event, using real movie names, actors, directors, and locations, making ‘Rekhachithram’ a historical fiction and mystery.

Despite a modest budget of Rs 6-9 crore, ‘Rekhachithram’ has been a commercial success, earning over Rs 55 crore worldwide. This achievement is particularly notable given the decline in box office collections for Malayalam films in 2025.
