'Made him CM twice': Tejashwi's swipe at Nitish for Lalu remark; BJP defends Bihar CM

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal on Wednesday traded barbs following a verbal spat between Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav in the assembly.
A day after Nitish said “he made Lalu Yadav what he was”, Tejashwi hit back claiming that he helped the JD(U) supremo clinch the top job in the state twice.
“Nitish Kumar Ji should know that before him, my father had already become 2-time MLA and MP,” Tejashwi said.
“It was me who made him (Nitish Kumar) CM twice. Lalu Ji has made many PMs, but it was me who made him (Nitish Kumar) CM two times and saved his party,” he added.
RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha also accused Nitish of being under the illusion of being the “Brahma” of Bihar.
“I am worried about Nitish Kumar now, it is so unfortunate that he is speaking in such a language You were in Lalu ji’s team, you were called Lalu ji’s man. Yesterday, Tejaswi Yadav, without any bitterness, gave a historical analysis, contemporary challenges and an outline of the future; he explained everything on the basis of logic,” RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said.
“You (Nitish Kumar) did not answer on it. You are the creator of the universe, you are Brahma, if such thoughts are coming to your mind these days, then I am even more worried about you,” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, war of words broke out between Nitish and Tejashwi in the assembly during the ongoing budget session.
As Kumar was making his speech, Tejashwi interrupted him, over which Nitish said, “What was there in Bihar earlier? It was me who made your (Tejashwi Yadav) father what he became. Even the people from your caste were asking me why I was doing this, but I still supported him.”
“We came here on November 24, 2005. I want to say what kind of situation was there at that time. Nobody would go out in the evening. No road was there. I was a minister in the Centre, we had to go to places on foot. There used to be many confrontations in society,” he added.
Meanwhile, BJP also backed Bihar CM’s claim and said that he played a major role in making Lalu Yadav the CM and Tejashwi Yadav the deputy CM.
“What Nitish Kumar ji said is right. He had played a major role in making Lalu Yadav the CM and Tejashwi Yadav the Deputy CM. Nitish Kumar ji has shown the mirror to the people of RJD,’ BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said
“In this election, we will fight in the leadership of Nitish Kumar and also win…No matter what Tejashwi Yadav says, Nitish Kumar will win in 2025,” he added.
