Saif Ali Khan attack: Police to submit the charge sheet by March end, the accused will remain in custody

Saif Ali Khan was attacked during a burglary attempt at his house in Mumbai on January 16. While Saif was rushed for a surgery and has recuperated well after coming home, the attacker is in police custody. The actor was stabbed six times when Saif tried to confront him as the burglar was inside Jeh Ali Khan’s room. Meanwhile, as per the latest update by the police on this matter, the Bandra Police will submit the charge sheet on the attack to Metropolitan Magistrate Court by March end.
A police official has stated to the media, “We have several positive reports and substantial evidence.” The attacker’s name is Shariful Islam and he’s a 30-year old Bangladeshi. He is currently under police custody and is held at Arthur Road Jail. The police has earlier confirmed that according to the forensic report, they had found some finger prints. An officer had said, “We had found fingerprints on the duct as it is made of metal. Aset of five prints has matched Shariful’s samples.”
The charge sheet which will be submitted by March end will also have statements from Saif, Kareena Kapoor Khan which the police had recorded. The charge sheet also has statement from Saif’s staff members, Eliyamma Philip and Junu, along with four other people. The police has also included statement of Shariful’s acquaintance and employer, Jitendra Pandey. The investigation has determined that Shariful’s intention was solely theft, and he had no knowledge that the house he targeted belonged to the actor.
The police shall continue to have him in custody. Meanwhile, in an interview with Delhi Times, Saif had spoken about the whole incident and the accused. He had spoken about the guy who attacked him and said, “Taimur said that he should be forgiven because he believed that the guy was hungry. I also believe I would have forgiven him. I feel bad for him – till where that knife comes in and my spine comes in and the fact that he tried to kill me (laughs). That’s where I stopped feeling bad for him. I understand why he did it. But he crossed the line when he went mad on me. I don’t blame society and I don’t blame the police or Mumbai or anything. I blame myself for not locking that area properly. But I didn’t believe this would happen. I didn’t believe that this kind of thing would happen to us.”
