Meghan Markle called 'insufferable' as she corrects Mindy Kaling on Netflix show: 'You know I'm Sussex now'
Mindy Kaling appears on the second episode of Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show.

Meghan Markle made sure that the world knows her as Sussex as she corrected Mindy Kaling on her new Netflix show when Meghan’s friend Mindy called her Meghan Markle several times. “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now,” Meghan said on the second episode of her new Netflix show “With Love, Meghan”.
Meghan and Mindy Kaling are old friends and Mindy once appeared on Meghan’s old podcast Archetypes. Social media users noted that Meghan at least could have saved her friend from the veiled jibe to push her ‘Sussex’ family name — hours after she and Harry relinquished their Royal duties.
In the episode, Mindy Kaling dropped by Meghan’s Montecito house to help Meghan plan a kid-friendly tea party in the garden. As they started chatting, Mindy Kaling said people wouldn’t believe that ‘Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box’. And then Meghan pushed his Sussex name.
What’s in a name? ‘This is our family name’
After Meghan Markle hammered home that Markle is her former surname and now she’s a Sussex, she said the family name matters to her a lot. “You have kids and you go, ‘No I should share my name with my children’. I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.'”
Meghan and Harry became Sussexes when they got married in 2018 as the late Queen Elizabeth II conferred on Harry and Meghan the titles of Duke of Sussex and Duchess of Sussex.
‘Meghan Markle is getting worse every time’
Social media users, including Meghan Markle’s haters, said she is getting worse every time as this is a scripted show and hence the ‘I am Sussex now’ comment could not be an off-the-cuff one and it was she who must have pushed for this statement in her script.
“Again, she doesn’t know who she is 🤨Sussex is the title given by the UK monarch and granted by the UK government… It is not a last name. She’s living inside her make believe fantasy indulged by her childhood aspiration to be queen,” one wrote.
“Absolutely. This was scripted, not an off the cuff comment. Their children were called Mountbatten-Windsor when they were born. Why did that change??? Because they are afraid they are going to lose their titles. In the USA you can go to court and change your name to anything, which I am sure they have done,” another wrote.
