5 facial exercises that help reduce wrinkles

Ageing starts showing signs on some people faster than others. This said, ageing is inevitable, and those fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin can be delayed through some healthy practices.While one cannot reduce the appearance of wrinkles, facial exercises, often called “face yoga,” are a natural way to tone facial muscles and improve circulation. When practiced daily, facial exercises can improve muscle tone and promote healthier skin. However, to improve on fine lines and reduce wrinkles, one has to consult a good aesthetician and take advice on area-wise problems because there are several treatments available that can help:

1. Forehead Smoother

This exercise targets horizontal forehead lines. Place your fingers just above your eyebrows. Gently pull the skin down while trying to raise your eyebrows. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times. This strengthens the forehead muscles.

2. Cheek Lifter

Designed to tone the cheeks and reduce sagging. Smile as wide as you can without showing your teeth, then place your fingers on the top part of your cheeks. Lift your cheeks upwards, hold for 5 seconds, and relax. Repeat 10–15 times. This helps enhance cheek volume.

3. Jawline Definer

“To combat sagging skin around the jaw and neck area, tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Move your lower lip over your upper lip as far as possible, then hold for 5 seconds. You should feel the stretch along your jawline and neck. Repeat 10 times,” said experts at Alive wellness clinics.

4. Eye Firmer

Place your index fingers at the outer corners of your eyes. Squint slightly while resisting the movement with your fingers. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat 10 times. It strengthens the muscles around the eyes.

5. Neck Tightener (The Giraffe)

To reduce neck wrinkles and a sagging chin, sit or stand with your back straight. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth and swallow. Repeat 10–15 times. This tones the muscle in the neck area.
